(APN) ATLANTA — Atlanta Progressive News is launching a news talk program that will air every Wednesday evening on People TV Atlanta Atlanta, the City of Atlanta’s public access television station.

The show will air from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning on this evening, September 25, 2019.

The show will be called Atlanta Progressive Views with Matthew Charles Cardinale.  APN’s News Editor, the present writer, will host the show.

“After nearly fourteen years of providing news in an online, text-only format, we are excited about this opportunity to supplement our full length articles with a new video format,” Cardinale said in a statement.

“This will also allow us to provide a wider range of content; an opportunity for discussion and analysis; and, of course, interviews with Atlantans who are making a difference,”

People TV Atlanta said the new show, which the station is producing, is part of the station’s efforts to expand its news programming.

“As People TV Atlanta broaden our horizons in educating and progressing into the future, we’ve added this live newscast so the people can reach out and touch, and really get to know what’s going on in Atlanta,” Patricia Crayton, President of the People TV Atlanta Board of Directors, said.

People TV Atlanta has been in existence since 1986, and is a nonprofit organization that manages the public access station on behalf of the City of Atlanta.

Tonight’s show will include a discussion of three matters pending before the Atlanta City Council.

First, we will be discussing the efforts by the City Council to limit public comment from current elected officials from other bodies, and from all former elected officials, which was the subject of a recent article in APN.

Second, we will be discussing the City of Atlanta’s efforts to ban single-use plastic in City-owned facilities.

Third, we will be discussing the latest on the struggle of Peoplestown residents to stay in their homes; the Council is currently considering legislation to withdraw its taking, or eminent domain, action.
