President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011 into law last night, New Year’s Eve.

As previously covered by APN, the NDAA contains controversial provisions regarding the detention of US citizens suspected of “belligerent acts.”

Legislation is currently pending in the US House and US Senate to clarify that indefinite detention provisions do not apply to US citizens.
