Georgia Legislators Back Reed for Mayor

Former State Sen. Kasim Reed (D-Atlanta), a 2009 candidate for Atlanta mayor, received the endorsement of several former colleagues from the Georgia General Assembly during a press conference Thursday.

Here is a list of the six senators and six representatives who were present at the state capital:

  • Sen. Horacena Tate, Chairwoman of the Atlanta-Fulton County Senate Delegation
  • Sen. Nan Orrock
  • Sen. Vincent Fort
  • Sen. David Adelman
  • Sen. Valencia Seay
  • Sen. Robert Brown
  • Rep. Kathy Ashe
  • Rep. Roger Bruce, Chairman of the Atlanta-Fulton County House Delegation
  • Rep. Rashad Taylor
  • Rep. Robbin Shipp
  • Rep. Rahn Mayo
  • Rep. Karla Drenner

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of my fellow colleagues from the state House and Senate,” Reed said in a statement. “As Mayor, I will continue to build on my 11 year record of delivering results at the Georgia Assembly for the people of Atlanta and improving the lives of every Atlantan.”
