US Reps. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) and Rob Woodall (R-GA) have announced their support for federal legislation to deny birthright citizenship to children born to undocumented immigrants.  APN reported yesterday on how similar legislation is also expected in the Georgia legislature.

The bill, HR 140, was introduced on Wednesday, January 05, 2011, by US Rep. Steve King (R-IA).  It would “amend section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act to clarify those classes of individuals born in the United States who are nationals and citizens of the United States at birth.”

US Rep. Gary Miller (R-CA) is the third co-sponsor.  The Georgia Congresspersons’ co-sponsorships were first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper.  The bill was referred to the House Judiciary Cmte.
