(APN) ATLANTA — From the controversial redrawing of County Commission districts comes the race for District 2, a new North Fulton seat that has been created, which includes the cities of Milton, Roswell, and half of Alpharetta.  The newly created district seat will be fought over by candidates Eric Broadwell and Bob Ellis, thus far.

Broadwell was elected to the board of the Cobb Electric Membership Corporation–which overwent a major governance overhaul, ushering in a more populist and environmentally friendly board in recent years–in March of 2012.  He serves as Chairman of the Finance committee.  During his chairmanship of the finance committee he has overseen a budget very similar to the budget at Fulton County and has approved a budget that 42 MM less in 2014, reduced electric rates three times when others are raising rates, aligned costs to revenue and supported a fixed cost reduction.

Broadwell has led many community efforts that bring vibrancy and economic impact to Roswell and surrounding areas.  He manages a youth cycling team and serves on a statewide nonprofit board.  His career started while attending GA Tech where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Aerospace Engineering.  He has worked at Lockheed and moved into technology and worked for IBM, EDS and was also a CIO at a national mortgage company.

Bob Ellis presently serves as an executive at Chubb Corp. in their Specialty Products Division and has built his career focused on delivering high-value products and excellent customer service. His leadership responsibilities cover a 20-state region.

Bob wants to put his 21 years of private sector business experience to work for the homeowners, families and taxpayers of Fulton County’s new District by reducing the tax burden on homeowners, delivering necessary county services in a high quality and efficient manner, streamlining and reducing the size of Fulton County government, being a leader who will serve, listen and have the courage to make tough decisions

Bob’s wife Jennifer teaches at Birmingham Falls Elementary. Bob and Jennifer, along with their children Chandler, Lindsey and Nathan, live in Milton and have made their home in north Fulton for 18 years.

A native Georgian, Bob is an honors graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Finance.

(END/2014)

UPDATE: An earlier version of this article referred to the Cobb EMC as the Cobb County EMC.  The name of the EMC is Cobb EMC; however, it services several Georgia counties, including part of north Fulton County.
