Beth Beskin Not Running for Senate District 6
Several months ago, APN reported that Beth Beskin was running in the Republican Primary for State Senate District 6. Today, however, Beskin told APN that she is not running for the seat anymore. She said that she had been on a long list of candidates considered for a Fulton County Superior Court judgeship, but that she did not make the short list. Beskin said she had abandoned her race for State Senate, however, in order to focus her energies on the judgeship application process.
The incumbent for the newly redistricted District 6 seat is State Sen. Doug Stoner, a Democrat. The seat was redistricted in order to benefit Republicans, however.
The remaining three Republicans who have announced they are running in the Primary are Josh Belinfante, Drew Ellenberg, and Hunter Hill.
Previously, Beskin ran for State Senate against State Sen. Horacena Tate, and lost, in 2010. She later served as Gov. Nathan Deal’s liaison to the Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education during its recent accreditation crisis.
