GRTA gets $8.7 million in stimulus funds
The Obama administration on Monday announced $8.7 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds for transit improvements in Georgia.
The Georgia Regional Transit Authority (GRTA) will use the money to purchase one 45-foot commuter bus, construction of park and ride lots, surveillance/security equipment, miscellaneous station equipment, maintenance facilities, shop equipment, and preventive maintenance.
Monday’s announcement is the latest release of ARRA funds set to benefit Metro Atlanta transit. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood was in Atlanta Sept. 21 to deliver $10.8 million in ARRA funds to MARTA.
