Or at least that’s the initial damage assessment.

Atlanta Fire Rescue began surveying the flood damage on Wednesday and submitted an initial estimate to GEMA, which will in turn transmit the information to the federal government.

From a City of Atlanta press release:

The City’s preliminary numbers are that 474 homes were impacted by the flooding and approximately 1,900 residents are seeking some level of federal assistance. The damage to municipal facilities included City recreation centers, RM Clayton Wastewater Treatment Plant, bridges, roads and other structures have also been reported to Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Atlanta Fire Rescue breaks it all down in this spreadsheet.

Some federal help is on the way to five metro counties. Who else will get help and when remains to be seen.
