Glenn Thomas Withdraws Mayoral Bid

Glenn Thomas–who some believed was the most progressive candidate in the race amongst the top 5 contenders–has withdrawn from the race.  It isn’t clear whether the email from Glenn is real or whether it is “a hack” again (see incident a couple months ago).  Top 4 remaining contenders: Norwood, Borders, Reed, Spikes.  I’m actually a little surprised he didn’t go all the way, but he cites financial difficulties.  In his last disclosure it was clear he had loaned his own campaign about $25,000 and raised like only one outside donation.

Today at 10AM, I will withdraw my bid to become Atlanta’s next mayor.

Due to the heavy financial costs the campaign has placed on my family, we can no longer push forward this campaign. But do not be discouraged, we will continue to fight for Atlanta, our kids, our seniors, our safety, our future.

Our fight has been a tough one, but nonetheless, it has been a fight worth fighting. Together, we have spoken truth, touched hearts, and empowered minds for a better Atlanta.

I thank EACH OF YOU who has given in your own way, whether monetary, in-kind, word of mouth, foot patrol, and pounding the pavement; it has been your hard efforts that have helped us reach this place.

We cannot afford to stand aside anymore in Atlanta, so I ask you to get involved, stay involved, and make CHANGE come to our great city.

A special thanks to my campaign team and family: Jennifer Thomas, Myrtle Thomas, Maya Thomas, Nada Holloway, Janice Turner, Janice Martin, Emmanuel Johnson, Greg Clay, Kevin Grimes, Devin Ward and everyone who stood with us throughout this journey…our best has yet to be seen.

I love each of you and God Bless You!
