State Sen. Kasim Reed’s campaign sent out new poll numbers showing Reed has gained, and that Borders does not have as much support as shown in other polls.  While the numbers are by a former leading pollster for the Democratic National Cmte, Reed’s campaign should have acknowledged–at least mentioned the fact–that the firm that ran the poll is also a firm that he hired to do consulting work for him.

“According to the poll, Mary Norwood is leading with 33%, followed by Lisa Borders at 19% and me at 16%.  The poll has a margin of error of 4.1%,” Reed’s campaign said.

“The poll was conducted during the week of August 24th by Cornell Belcher of Brilliant Corners Research & Strategies, a well-respected, national pollster who conducted polls for President Obama’s campaign.  As the lead pollster for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) from 2004 to 2008, Belcher helped to lay the foundation for the current Democratic political realignment and the stunning victory of the Obama presidential campaign.”
