GFADP to Launch “Tuesdays for Troy”
Georgians For Alternatives to the Death Penalty (GFADP), who along with Amnesty International have worked hard to bring attention to the case of Georgia death row inmate Troy Anthony Davis, is launching a new event called “Tuesdays for Troy” in September.
Beginning September 8 and running every other Tuesday through at least October 20, volunteer groups will rally at high traffic areas from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the designated dates to raise awareness about the Davis case.
Potential rallying areas include the Five Points MARTA station, downtown Decatur, and Little Five Points.
These rallies will supplement the planned “Teach In For Troy” set for September 21-27.
It all leads up to an eventual evidentiary hearing, ordered by the U.S. Supreme Court on August 17. While there is no date set for the hearing, it was announced Tuesday that Chief U.S. District Judge William T. Moore Jr. of Savannah will preside.
