Events: Health Care Forums around Atlanta
There will be three important healthcare events happening next week: one hosted by Atlantans Building Leadership for Empowerment (ABLE), another by Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), and a third by Emory University.
On Monday, ABLE, along with members of Concerned Black Clergy, Candler School of Theology Social Concerns Network, and HealthCare for America Now, will hold a prayer rally and press conference to urge Congress to support healthcare reform.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. in front of Grady Memorial Hospital 80 Jesse Hill, Jr. Dr. SE Atlanta, Ga. 30303. Johnson and Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) will also be on hand.
On Tuesday, Johnson will host his own town hall meeting on healthcare reform. Panelists include Grady CEO Michael Young, Dr. Sandra Ford (District Health Director for DeKalb County), and Dr. Arthur Kellerman of Emory University. DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson will moderate.
The event will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Georgia Perimeter College’s Cole Auditorium, 555 North Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston, Ga. 30021.
Emory University will host a town hall forum on healthcare on Saturday Aug. 15. The event will take place at White Hall, Room 208, and is free and open to the public. It starts at 4 p.m. and Jane Kidd, chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, will moderate.
