Action alert: Picket Wachovia Tuesday
Momentum for the Picket and Rally on Tuesday, April 21, from 10am to 11am at
Wachovia Bank, 999 Peachtree Street (corner of 10th) continues to build.
Three more labor organizations have joined the Coalition and will be
bringing union members to Tuesday’s Demonstration.
The Coalition makes the following demands to Wachovia.
1. No more predatory lending
2. No more foreclosures
3. Modify bad loans
4. Do it because you took the bailout money.
The Picket and Rally will begin at 10am followed by a rally at 10:45 am.
Wachovia is a short walking distance from the Midtown MARTA station. A
delegation will deliver a letter to the bank manager outlining the above
demands. While Wachovia is the target of this demonstration, the Coalition
fully recognizes that other banks and mortgage companies have engaged in
similar predatory lending practices that have led to the current financial
crisis and the epidemic of foreclosures in Atlanta.
